Fabio Zaina
Dr. Fabio Zaina, MD, has been the Medical Doctor for ISICO since 2006, specializing in the field of scoliosis and low back pain. He is a member of the Scientific Secretary Board of the Italian Study Group on Scoliosis and Spinal Diseases (GSS) (www.gss.it). He is a member of the ISSLS (International Society on the Study of the Lumbar Spine), currently Chair of the Membership Committee, since 2009. He is currently site director at the “Principle and Practice of Clinical Research” organized by the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Zaina serves as the chair of the “Spinal Deformity Module” of the EDISC course by Eurospine. He was president of SOSORT in 2016. He is an author of more than 130 scientific papers about spinal rehabilitation, back pain and scoliosis. Fabio co-authored the Brace Classification paper that was endorsed by SOSORT.
Jean Claude De Mauroy
Dr. Jean Claude de Mauroy, MD, is a medical doctor with specialties in physical medicine and rehabilitation, biomechanics, and sports medicine. He has been instrumental in the development of the Lyon method of non-surgical scoliosis treatment and is the inventor of the ARTbrace for scoliosis management. Dr. de Mauroy conducts international training on the Lyon method and the effectiveness of the ARTbrace and is extensively published on the topic of non-surgical treatment for scoliosis. He is the President of the SIRER (International Society of Spine Research) and is a past president of SOSORT.
Grant Wood
Grant Wood is a co-founder of Align Clinic in San Mateo California. He specializes in scoliosis bracing with Rigo-Chêneau braces and has over 30 years of experience in the areas of prosthetic and orthotic patient care, product development, and scientific research. Grant’s professional career as an orthotist and prosthetist includes work in the US, England and Spain, where he worked for 8 years at Group IDEO in Sevilla and Malaga. His post-graduate thesis was on idiopathic scoliosis treatment using the Chêneau brace at the Research Institute for Health, University of Salford. As well as being British certified in prosthetics and orthotics, he also has an American Board Certification to be a Certified Orthotist (CO) and is US Board Certified in Prosthetics. Grant co-authored the Brace Classification paper that was endorsed by SOSORT.
Jeb McAviney
Dr. Jeb McAviney is a chiropractor with a special interest in the clinical research and the clinical management of scoliosis in adults and children. He holds both a Masters of Pain Medicine and Masters of Chiropractic and is the founder and clinical director of the ScoliCare group in Australia. Dr McAviney has published several journal articles including systematic reviews on the prevalence of Adult De-Novo Scoliosis and the evidence for scoliosis bracing in adults. Dr. McAviney is on the associate editorial board and a reviewer for The European Spine Journal. He is also a scientific reviewer for the Journal of Prosthetics & Orthotics and the SOSORT society’s scientific committee. Jeb co-authored the Brace Classification paper that was endorsed by SOSORT.

Meet the Speakers
Dr. Eric Parent
Dr. Eric Parent is a Past-President of SOSORT and an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta. Dr. Parent and his collaborators have received multiple SOSORT awards for their research. His research interests include documenting the effects of exercises for patients with low back pain and scoliosis of all ages. Dr. Parent also has an interest in determining what are the best quality of life, perceived appearance, and posture measurements to document the effect of non-operative interventions in patients with scoliosis and low back pain.

Dr. Charles Crawford:
After finishing his medical school at the top of his class, Dr. Crawford continued his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at University of Louisville, and his Spine Surgery Fellowship at Washington University. Dr. Crawford is passionate about improving spine patient care through his clinical practice, teaching, and research at the Leatherman Spine Center and the University of Louisville, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, where he serves as a Full Tenured Professor. His clinical focus is the surgical treatment of all forms of spine pathology in both children and adults. Dr. Crawford co-authored numerous publications and gave presentations on Adult Spinal Deformity evaluation and management. Most notably, he was a co-investigator and co-author on publications related to the NIH-sponsored Adult Lumbar Symptomatic Scoliosis clinical trial.
Dr. Sabrina Donzelli
Dr. Sabrina Donzelli is a Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine Doctor with ISICO, dedicated to scoliosis conservative treatment with a Msc in Evidence-Based Health Care Medical Statistics from Oxford University. She has authored 57 publications and has spoken at national and international conferences, as well as lectured in various clinical and research courses, including ISICO master, Principle and Practice of scoliosis conservative treatment and research methods at Harvard TH Chan program. Dr. Donzelli is a multiple SOSORT Award winner, a member of Eurospine, SRS, and the current SOSORT Secretary.
Alessandra Negrini
Alessandra Negrini is a physiotherapist and the Technical Director of the ISICO Unit in Vigevano, Italy. Since 1998, she has been an active member of the Scientific Secretariat of the Italian Group of Scoliosis and Spinal Diseases. Speaker in numerous meetings, since 2011 she has been teacher in national and international educational SEAS Courses for physicians and physiotherapists. She co-authored numerous Medline papers related to scoliosis and her most recent interests are mainly in adult scoliosis conservative treatment, scoliosis clinical evaluation and impact of sports activity in patients with scoliosis.
